Fabulous Fridays–Starts the 30th!

Fabulous Fridays are basically an open Studio time to explore arts materials, have some yummy snacks and make time for community.

This is a kid and Grown up Arts experience.  No drop offs please.

I will have the studio broken up into zones–  Pick a zone and have some fun.  You will need to check out of the zone before moving on to the next.

–Painting, cutting, collage, gluing, printing….Or bring your own project and use the glue guns or brushes in the studio.

Cost is 5$ an hour or 12 for the whole morning.  I’m very flexible with the price—Just let me know what would work for you or if you can come set up or clean up.  There is also sibling discounts if you purchase the whole morning.  Prices are applicable to any little one over 18 mths that’s out of the stroller and cruising around.

Hope to see you in the morning!  Please leave a comment below to let me know that you will be joining us.

If you’ve lost the flyer and need the address let me know and I’ll send the you the address again.

THIS IS NOT A MUSEUM SCHOOL EVENT AND I AM OPERATING INDEPENDENTLY OF THEM IN THIS CAPACITY.

Getta Box and invite the neighborhood

This week Abi wanted a box and it just so happened our neighbor is remodeling.  It was peeking out of the large dumpster and after a knock on the neighbors door and a little diving we came home with two big boxes and a couple of 5 gallon buckets(for grey water collecting).

The kids found a double piece of cardboard inside and decided it was a butterfly.  Then they drew the lines on the box to which I sacrificed my bread knife and cut the doors and window.  Then some duct tape.  Then a wire handle for the door.  Then markers, crayons and all the neighborhood kids in the box coloring and writing their names and other silly things.

My 13 year old even got into it untill she decided she needed her own box—so now we have two crazy looking creations on the patio.  Don’t think they will make it past the weekend but the have had oh so much fun this week.

Stop by Best Buy or Sears, get a box and have some fun!

Summer Art Project #1 Monster Art

Create a fun crazy monster with your kiddo

You will need–markers, heavy paper, water color, construction paper, glue and scissor.

Time– You’ll need about 20 minutes, depending on the age of your child.

If mess drives you nuts make sure to put paper under the project and give yourself time to clean up and have a rag handy for accidents.

1. Talk about what kind of monster your kiddo would like to make, shape and extras like horns, or how many arms?

2. Make it big so that lots can be added on.  Top of the paper to the bottom.

3. You draw the basic monster with a dark strong marker like a sharpie.

4. Ask questions!  What’s next?  What kind of horns?  How big are the hands?

5. Creating with your child is a bit like a dance.  Suggest, try something out, let them object.  Talk about the together process.  Your opinion matters too!

6. Use your materials to cover the monster with as many details as possible.  My daughter kept reminding me it had to look scarey.  I was making it too cute apparently.  Cover the whole paper till no corner has been left un touched.

7. Hang your creation up!  Wether for a day or a week.   it is sooo important that you show off the work and give that time together importance.
